Re: [Request for Comments] Governance change for Fedora Project

May I throw out another thought if I may.

Earlier I asked, what does the Board do, and the answer seemed to be
very little to nothing.

In relation to http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Board#Strategic_Philosophy
this answer sounds bad.

Then I learned FESCo performs this function.

Maybe I should ask a different question.

What is not being done in the Fedora project that needs to be done
that the board should be doing?

If everything is being done, perhaps we need to redefine the duties of
the board.

Perhaps the board acts as conflict resolver for personal conflicts and
inter-group conflicts,
and acts to protect the Fedora trademark. If everything is running smoothly,
there would be very little for the board to do. This could be viewed
as a good thing.

The board would stand there to deal with problems when problems arise.
If there are no problems, the board would have nothing to do.

There is nothing wrong having a group ready to handle conflicts and
ready to perform oversight.

If the board is bored, I could think of more oversight work for the board to do.
The board could read the minutes of the various groups looking for
problems and inter-group conflicts.

I would discourage the board from sticking its nose too far into
groups that are working well.
Too much oversight and kibitzing might break groups that are working well.
