What makes Plasma fundamentally better for education and scientific users? Why would these applications not run equivalently well on Workstation? I'd much rather explore ways that we can allow differentiation outside the product process - the Ubuntu approach seems to have worked well here. The different Ubuntu desktops are built from the same archive but have independent (but related) brands and marketing.
