#182: GNOME 3.12 pushes Google and other commercial, non-FOSS "apps" at users ----------------------------+----------------------- Reporter: sparks | Owner: somebody Type: defect | Status: new Priority: major | Milestone: Component: Fedora Project | Resolution: Keywords: | Blocked By: Blocking: | ----------------------------+----------------------- Comment (by sparks): This has already [http://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora- meeting-1/2014-01-23/fedora_board.2014-01-23-19.01.html been decided] during a meeting back in January. Specifically "The board believes that shipping repository metadata that points at non-free software is incompatible with Fedora's foundations". GNOME is doing exactly this, now. There is metadata being shipped in Fedora that points users to non-free software (software, that is in this case SaaS). This is not an opt-in solution and best I can tell there is no way to opt-out (I've not tried to remove the metadata file so I don't know if that would break functionality). -- Ticket URL: <https://fedorahosted.org/board/ticket/182#comment:7> Fedora Board issue tracker <http://fedorahosted.org/board> Issue tracking for the Fedora Board _______________________________________________ advisory-board mailing list advisory-board@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/advisory-board
