Intent to retire perl-MetaCPAN-API from EPEL (7)

The package perl-MetaCPAN-API, which has been deprecated upstream for some time now, was recently updated by upstream to support the new v1 API provided by MetaCPAN. The original v0 API, the only one supported by the existing EPEL perl-MetaCPAN-API package, no longer works with metacpan.org, so the EPEL package is non-functional.

At this point I could either upgrade or retire the package.

Upgrading to the current upstream version would entail branching and building perl-Moo, perl-Type-Tiny and perl-strictures for EPEL. Whilst this is do-able, perl-Moo is the base of an object ecosystem and I'd rather not be maintaining that in EPEL just because it's needed as a dependency of a deprecated package. It deserves to be maintained by someone that actually cares about it.

So, given that the package is deprecated and I don't think there are any dependent packages in EPEL, I'm intending to retire the EPEL branch (there's only a branch for EPEL-7) of perl-MetaCPAN-API. If anyone wants to take it and upgrade it, I'll be happy to hand it over to them.

Regards, Paul.
