There is no documentation, discussion or tickets on this change. Thank
you for bringing it up to the list. EPEL is not set up to work like a
regular release with branches and such. We therefore rely on
developers doing the right thing and not push major changes without
proper notification to the list. I have cc'd the owner of the package
to make sure the discussion happens.
