And my identity as a human and not a spambot is verified by replying to
an e-mail from the same address with a cookie or visiting a web link
with a cookie, right?

Could this be changed to verifying that I'm a human when I send a
message the same way as it's done when I subscribe to a list?

It would be easier to visit a link when I send a patch to confirm that
it was me than setting up a mail filter that throws away the list
traffic that's not relevant to me.
