Ack, I ran into this problem too.

You'll find out that some updates won't ever work even then because the modules are being imported twice, I described it here:

I've been working on a fix for some time now but other non-rawhide priorities always prevented me from finishing it (it's rather big). As a part of that I plan to mostly remove all those sys.path hacks we have in place.
