My thing with the second bug was that it was produced while using a
updates image, so the traceback contains update image code. And might
(not sure) be due to some screw up in the image.  Or a combination of
both the kickstart issue and the image being screwed up.
Since we (Jesse and me) looked into and tested the posted patch, I
decided to close that bug.

I would prefer, for the kickstart issue, to have a different bug open,
with code that does not include any updates images.
