That's true *sometimes*.  Not always.  Some hardware does things right,
and when it does we both get this right I think.  Maybe even most
hardware these days.  But there's a LOT of hardware that doesn't.

We're already checking for that, but many machines just don't present
the data, or they present data that is useless or even just plain wrong.
