The exciting news lately is all the things happening around XEN. It's cool that Fedora includes XEN in the FC 4. Please see http://www.fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraXenQuickstart for more information. However, the VM must run in ring 0 and anaconda must run in ring 1 for the VM host and the anaconda client to work together correctly. If you feel that you have followed every step carefully during the creation of your shinny new CD, then you should boot the CD on a machine without a VM. For example, this is the point where you may have to reboot the CD in its final production environment--presuming no VMs are running during a rescue of a failed system as you stated in the purpose of your CD. A test without the VM running would be far more interesting problem if your CD didn't work on a "clean" computer than under the VM. At present, I don't know if you have paid for VMWare's most recent license and have it installed, if that's what you mean by "VM workstation". Perhaps that doesn't even mater and all you need is a patch. I don't know but does sound like a potential problem. The age of your VM may affect the results of your work! An older VM may not handle the recent kernel releases that FC4 uses including anaconda.
