Second, how does Anaconda know what version of the kernel to install? For example, if I build a custom CD with kernel-2.4.24 (my custom kernel), but kernel-2.4.20 was the default in the RH CD and, how would Anaconda know to install kernel-2.4.24? Do I have to modify Anaconda, or does it automamagically know which kernel to look for?
from my experience with custom cds - anaconda will install the kernel that you supply on the cd. If you only supply one kernel-2.4.24 (your custom kernel) rpm - thats what will be installed. If you supply several different versions of the same kernel 2.4.22 (ie. smp, athlon, etc.) - anaconda automagically installs the kernel suitable for the machine it is installing on.
