In fact (from the manual of my MoBo) the Green jack is used both for headphone and for Front-left, Front-right speakers output. I don't know how to verify this. I will buy a S/PDIF optical cable, trying thus the digital output and unplugging the analog output jacks.

I seem to remember an old post on some forum that strongly recommended to use the audio digital output when available.
