Yes, that causes ALSA to use the HDMI port (at least it's what I assume it
does, I can't hear anything through the headphone jack output).

$ aplay 01\ -\ Town.wav -Dplug:dmix
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1029:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
aplay: main:722: audio open error: No such file or directory

Playing the file without -Dplug:dmix plays the file as expected.
