Hi I have recently installed Fedora 21 Mate on my desktop which runs on Intel DG41CN motherboard with Realtek ALC662 Audio. Prior to this I was running Linux Mint. It was working all fine then, I may have fixed it when I had installed Mint two years ago but I do not remember what was done then. I also run Windows 7 on the same machine and there is no problem with the audio. So the problem I have is that there is no sound from my speakers. A few times, there is a little "choppy" sound but thats it. When I put the headphones on, the sound is there. I must also mention that I also installed Ubuntu Mate on it and faced the same problem. I have tried a few things until now but to no avail. I also tried to compile and build latest ALSA but this is the error I get: make[2]: Leaving directory '/tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d/misc' make[2]: Entering directory '/tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d/firewire' make[2]: Leaving directory '/tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d/firewire' make[1]: Leaving directory '/tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d' make -C /lib/modules/3.19.1-201.fc21.x86_64/build SUBDIRS=/tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d CPP="gcc -E" CC="gcc" modules make[1]: Entering directory '/usr/src/kernels/3.19.1-201.fc21.x86_64' CC [M] /tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d/acore/wrappers.o CC [M] /tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d/acore/misc_driver.o CC [M] /tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d/acore/info.o /tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d/acore/info.c: In function ‘snd_info_version_read’: /tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d/acore/info.c:1065:22: error: macro "__DATE__" might prevent reproducible builds [-Werror=date-time] "Compiled on " __DATE__ " for kernel %s" ^ cc1: some warnings being treated as errors scripts/Makefile.build:257: recipe for target '/tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d/acore/info.o' failed make[3]: *** [/tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d/acore/info.o] Error 1 scripts/Makefile.build:402: recipe for target '/tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d/acore' failed make[2]: *** [/tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d/acore] Error 2 Makefile:1386: recipe for target '_module_/tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d' failed make[1]: *** [_module_/tmp/alsa-compile-script/alsa-driver-1.0.25.3584.gb044d] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/src/kernels/3.19.1-201.fc21.x86_64' Makefile:167: recipe for target 'compile' failed I have run the Alsa diagnostic tool and the output is uploaded here: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=1f6dd98e26f68e890258fa2fe5eb08ee343c5c13 I will really appreciate any help.
