snd-hda-intel model selection

I've been trying to use this driver with a specific fixup/model set. I made a file in /etc/modprobe.d with this line:

options snd-hda-intel model=alc283-chrome

I do not see the results of those fixes on reboot. Is this the correct way to do this and how can I verify what model/fixup set my hardware is detected as?
