Many thanks for your quick reply, that indeed solves the problem.

Just wondering the 

options snd-usb-audio index=-2

was delivered in Debian's default settings. Could they do anything to make an 
arbitrary number of snd-usb-audio devices to not pick card index 0? Or is the 
only way to provide a long enough list of -2,-2,-2,... ?
