Trying to get sound on a Asus M5A99X EVO working

I've been trying to get sound working on my Asus M5A99X EVO, but I can't seem
to get any output what so ever. It's based on the ALC892 codec and ATI HDA SB
chipset.

Programs think they can play audio, there are no errors related to playing
sound, but I can't actually hear any output regardless of which jack I have my
speakers plugged into (or headphones). I've set all mixer elements to 100% and
unmuted, and tried toggling mute and playing with volume settings, and nothing
seems to help. I've tried passing in the model parameter to the module set to
"auto", "asus", and "6stack", but none of them seemed to do anything.

Is there any kind of special trick I need?
