On my board it's connected to a PCIe slot and for Linux I get xruns even with a high latency and there seemingly is audio jitter, since it doesn't sound as bright as it should do. So I installed FreeBSD and Windows XP to test the card. On Windows there aren't gaps and the sound card does sound much better. I bought the card because it was recommended by the Linux community. However, in the end it was my decision to buy it, I don't blame anybody else for that. If more Linux users would buy this card, then perhaps somebody with the needed knowledge is willing to help. I contacted RME and they are willing to help the Linux community, it's just a manpower issue for Linux. I neither have the knowledge, nor the money to pay somebody to continue programming the driver. Since I experience the card not to provide all 8 ADAT channels and somebody else on this list mentioned, that it can't be used with the extension cards, it might be not a good idea to get this card for Linux. I don't want to use FreeBSD for audio and I never ever will use Windows for anything, but testing the card. For my needs it wasn't a good choice to buy the card.
