After I sent this, I got to thinking, maybe I did not re-plug the Schitt while the machine was off... so: I shut down the machine, unplugged the Schiit, switched it to TOSLINK, plugged the USB back in, and rebooted. At this point I have not yet switched the Schiit back to USB, but what I have in /proc/asound/Interface/stream0 is now: clh@temuko:~$ cat /proc/asound/Interface/stream0 CMEDIA Schiit USB Interface at usb-0000:00:13.2-3, high speed : USB Audio Playback: Status: Stop Interface 1 Altset 1 Format: S16_LE Channels: 2 Endpoint: 5 OUT (ASYNC) Rates: 44100, 48000, 88200, 96000, 192000 Data packet interval: 125 us Capture: Status: Stop Interface 4 Altset 1 Format: S16_LE Channels: 2 Endpoint: 8 IN (ASYNC) Rates: 44100, 48000, 88200, 96000, 192000 Data packet interval: 125 us clh@temuko:~$ ie no S32_LE altset on either playback or capture. Switching the Schiit back to USB does not change this. Because the Schiit was found during bootup the /var/log/kern.log is a bit messier, but here it is Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.296084] mmc0: SDHCI controller on PCI [0000:02:04.2] using PIO Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.301538] usb 1-3: config 1 interface 8 altsetting 0 bulk endpoint 0x1 has invalid maxpacket 64 Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.301552] usb 1-3: config 1 interface 8 altsetting 0 bulk endpoint 0x82 has invalid maxpacket 64 Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.304050] usb 1-3: New USB device found, idVendor=0d8c, idProduct=0304 Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.304061] usb 1-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.304075] usb 1-3: Product: Schiit USB Interface Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.304080] usb 1-3: Manufacturer: CMEDIA Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.336760] ata2.00: ATAPI: MATSHITADVD-RAM UJ-820S, 1.70, max UDMA/33 Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.353634] ata2.00: configured for UDMA/33 Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.353844] firewire_ohci 0000:02:00.0: added OHCI v1.10 device as card 0, 4 IR + 8 IT contexts, quirks 0x2 Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.374965] hidraw: raw HID events driver (C) Jiri Kosina Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.386390] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbhid Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.386401] usbhid: USB HID core driver Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.393543] ata1.00: ATA-8: WDC WD1200BEVE-00A0HT0, 11.01A11, max UDMA/100 Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.393554] ata1.00: 234441648 sectors, multi 16: LBA48 Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.394434] tsc: Refined TSC clocksource calibration: 3200.113 MHz Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.394442] Switching to clocksource tsc Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.396504] input: CMEDIA Schiit USB Interface as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:13.2/usb1/1-3/1-3:1.6/input/input4 Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.396770] hid-generic 0003:0D8C:0304.0001: input,hidraw0: USB HID v1.00 Device [CMEDIA Schiit USB Interface] on usb-0000:00:13.2-3/input6 Apr 10 08:33:15 temuko kernel: [ 2.409108] ata1.00: configured for UDMA/100 -- Chris Hermansen · clhermansen "at" gmail "dot" com C'est ma façon de parler. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Precog is a next-generation analytics platform capable of advanced analytics on semi-structured data.
