My microphone doesn't work, two entries "Microphone" and "Mic Boost"
appear in the mixer but as "Playback" devices ! ?

Anyone any ideas what I try next, wasted 3 hours on this so far, this is
what I have tried so far in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

# JA
#https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Advanced_Linux_Sound_Architecture
options snd-hda-intel model=auto
#options snd-hda-intel model=asus-mode4
#options snd-hda-intel model=basic
#options snd-hda-intel model=hp
#options snd-hda-intel model=asus
#options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m6-dmic

# Crashes machine ! msi=1
# options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

Yes my microphone does actually work, yes I have tested it, yes it does
work in another O/S and in my older copy of fedora.

I also have a mixer channel center I don't want and have lost the stereo
ouput I used to drive the headphones with but this is less of a problem
than the missing mic :-(

Thanks,
Jon
