You appear to also have a seperate dedicated audio processor for HDMI out. To find out which subdevice routes audio correctly out your HDMI port, with MPlayer try something like: mplayer -ao alsa:device=hw=1.3 where 1 is the card number, and 3 is the subdevice number as indicated by your above aplay -l output.
