Clemens, using Ctrl+S/Ctrl+Q to suspend/resume the current process did not suspend the "resume from suspend" process.
I did find one of the errors near the bottom of the file generated by the following command: alsa-info --no-upload
The error is as follows:
[143331.658054] ALSA sound/usb/mixer.c:846 5:2: cannot get min/max values for control 2 (id 5)
Anyone know what might cause this error?

Hi
Have you looked thru all the consoles with ctrl-alt-Fn to see if the error messages were still on some console?

When I resume from suspend, some error messages appear briefly
(related to Alsa). They don't appear long enough for me to read the
entire message and the error messages do not appear in
/var/log/messages.
You didn't say where or how these messages appear, but if they're on the
console or in a terminal, you can try Ctrl+S/Ctrl+Q to suspend/resume
the current process.
Regards,
Clemens
They appear on my screen (console) when my system is waking up from a
suspended state. The show up briefly immediately prior to the
Gnome log-in screen.
