Patch works brilliantly. I built a custom kernel on ubuntu 11.10 based on the latest lowlatency kernel config from the ppa and the Xstation now works in duplex :). Hope this makes it to a mainstream build soon.
Still have the problems with alsamixer...but skype works with it over the pulseaudio-jack module, so am not too fussed..
Will be testing it more thoroughly with ardour/jackd over the weekend.
Thanks a lot Clemens.

Bharat

Hi Clemens,Thanks for the tip. Will look into the patch! This is a laptop so all the ports sit on top of an internal hub which has two main usb ports ..so its not possible to connect it directly..it has to go through the hub.I was also wondering, if the problem is with the EHCI driver, why does the zoom g9 (also a usb 1 device) work properly in duplex mode? I was just looking at the dmesg output and cant see anything significantly different.regards,BharatXstation dmesg output (copied from pastebin)

("Open") or UHCI ("Universal") controllers, try connecting the device
directly to the PC without a hub.
There's a recent patch that works around the most common instances of
this bug; it's likely to help you:
