Lenovo 3000 V200 - no sound from internal speakers but OK on headphone jack

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04, and sound plays fine to the headphone jack only - no sound from the internal speakers on this laptop.

I've tried following the normal diagnostic path, and tried model=lenovo, model=laptop, and model=test but none help.
