Hello, my computer is conected with the iec958 interface to my AV-Receiver. Unfortunately i have not sound on my AV-Reicerver when i play a MP3 on my computer. But if i play an file with AC3 or DTS audio i can hear the sound. I tested this with VLC, with the options "interface alsa" and "use spdif" . On my computer runs Debian Testing. I also tried this with a Puppy Linux installatoion on the same computer. On the Puppy Linux all work fine. I also use the program aplay for tests with the following results. This commnad works, i hear the sound: $ aplay -D iec958:CARD=SB,DEV=0 /usr/share/sounds/ekiga/ring.wav This command works not, no sound. $ aplay -D plughw:0,1 /usr/share/sounds/ekiga/ring.wav The alsa hareware adresse should be correct. $ root@foobar:~# aplay -l **** Liste der Hardware-GerÃte (PLAYBACK) **** Karte 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], GerÃt 0: VT1708S Analog [VT1708S Analog] Sub-GerÃte: 2/2 Sub-GerÃt #0: subdevice #0 Sub-GerÃt #1: subdevice #1 Karte 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], GerÃt 1: VT1708S Digital [VT1708S Digital] Sub-GerÃte: 1/1 Sub-GerÃt #0: subdevice #0  On the Puppy Linux both commands work. It seems on my Debian installation ist something worng. But i can't found it.
