I hope this doesn't show up twice. I accidentally sent it to alsa-user-request first :( Hello all, I'm having a problem with the AD1984 chipset on version 1.0.23. I was runnning 1.0.16 and it was working fine. Then I had to upgrade to 1.0.23 to get support for alc889. However I went to regression test on older platforms and discovered that it is no longer working with the AD1984 chip whereas previously it was working but the ALC889 now works. I really need both to work. Here is what I've tried so far: - Checked mixer settings Master is max, PCM is max, all playback devices are max. - blacklisted pcsp module - tried alsamixer -Dhw just in case but it didn't show me anything I hadn't already seen. I noticed after every reboot I have to go back in the mixer and turn up the PCM volume control as it keeps resetting back to 0 for some reason. aplay always just plays as thought it isn't a problem but no sound is produced. I've tested the speakers and I know they work. The volume is turned up all they way on them. The O/S base is Fedora Core 8 (dated I know but I can't upgrade it right now.) Previously I had 1.0.16 rpms installed. On the new system I removed the RPMs, installed all the 1.0.23 packages, and added an audio group with id 16 and then it worked. I did the same on the Optiplex 755 with the AD1984 and it did not work and still does not work even though I am not getting any errors from the module when it loads nor any audio application...
