Hello, I need an advice regarding the problem I'm having with alsa audio. I have an ASUS desktop that uses VIA VT1708S-based audio subsystem. I had a number of issues with this system until I upgraded to 1.0.23 version of alsa driver and since then everything worked OK. But a couple of weeks ago I bumped into the new problem I can't resolve. 1) I have the following audio devices: - speakers, connected to rear "Line out" connector; - Headset with MIC, connected to front speaker and MIC connectors - TV card (bt878 Lifeview FlyVideo 98), connected to Line In. 2) I have 3 OSes installed on this machine: - OpenSUSE 11.1, my main system, alsa driver and tools installed from OpenSUSE build service "multimedia" repository that provides latest version from git in the form of binary rpm. - OpenSUSE 11.3, another working system. Two different kernels (2.6.34 and 2.6.35) both have alsa 1.0.23. - Kubuntu 10.4, mostly as reference. Alsa compiled form source. I've started seeing the problem on 11.1 presumably after alsa update (but I'm not sure it really happens after update). I could not hear audio from my TV card anymore. Booted into 11.3 and it seems working. I thought it might be temporary problem with specific version of alsa driver and waited for next update. There were at least 4 updates since then and the problem still persists. In the meantime I noticed that there is also a problem with MIC in 11.3. MIC worked (I hear the voice in the speakers) but audio recording indicates zero level of audio and there is no MIC audio in Skype. Switched back to 11.1, unmuted Front MIC, and suddenly I started hearing audio from TV card. MIC is totally dead (no audio at all). I then switched to Kubuntu and to my surprise everything worked fine there (except the issue I had before with 1.0.22 - TV audio is only heard in Headphones but not in speakers). I'm attaching 4 results of alsa-info.sh - from 11.3, Kubuntu and 2 from 11.1. The earlier one on 11.1 has been received when everything was working, and the later one is recent, with Front MIC/Line In issue. I'd appreciate any advice on how to investigate this situation.
