Google-Talk echo on distant, remote phone

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,

I installed Google-Talk yesterday on two of my Linux computers. When I use Google-Talk and my computer to call either a cell phone or a landline phone, I'm told by the person I'm calling that that person hears an echo of his/her own voice, and this echo is really annoying.

Is there anything I can tweak on my end to get rid of the echo for the person on the distant landline or cell phone end? Or does it seem that this is a Google-Talk problem, something for Google to fix? [Google-Talk is free for the rest of 2010; free to call anywhere in the US and Canada.]

Here's some info for you:

- from output of inxi -F:

Audio: Card Intel 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller driver Intel ICH at ports d800 dc00 BusID: 00:1f.5
Sound: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Version 1.0.21

- from output of lspci:

00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)

My Linux OS in both computers is MEPIS 8.5

DSL connection via AT & T / Yahoo [upload speed: ~ 338 Kbps; download speed: ~ 676.8 Kbps]

Thanks
