Hello I'm trying to get some sound on an older PC which I just upgraded to FC13 Sound used to work on FC8. It can play 16 bit wav files but not 8 big oog. And on top of it all, I only get sound in the headset, not in the speakers. # aplay /net/192.168.1.104/userdata/multimedia/disk8/track_01.mp3 Playing raw data '/net/192.168.1.104/userdata/multimedia/disk8/track_01.mp3' : Unsigned 8 bit, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono Noise # aplay /usr/lib/openoffice.org/basis3.2/share/gallery/sounds/theetone.wav Playing WAVE '/usr/lib/openoffice.org/basis3.2/share/gallery/sounds/theetone.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 11025 Hz, Mono OK # aplay /usr/share/sounds/gnome/default/alerts/bark.ogg Playing raw data '/usr/share/sounds/gnome/default/alerts/bark.ogg' : Unsigned 8 bit, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono Noise I played with the mixer and increased all volumes. I tried unstalling pulseaudio twice without luck. I had a problem on Fedora 13 that alsa had a mismatch /tmp/alsa-info.txt.NTNsC4J0VS:Driver version: 1.0.21 /tmp/alsa-info.txt.NTNsC4J0VS:Library version: /tmp/alsa-info.txt.NTNsC4J0VS:Utilities version: 1.0.22 I tried to install the latest libs, but that didn't helt and so I went and installed a 2.6.35-rc3 kernel from kernel.org, and the got all on 1.0.23 but still no luck.
