Here is a link to a bug report regarding the ice1712 chip and PulseAudio:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/178442

I noticed this comment (comment #16)

"

The problem is not isolated to pulseaudio. It can show up in any audio
app that expects to be able to control certain audio card settings.

The ICE1712 driver only takes 10 channels of output in s32 format, or
nothing. Also the rate locking feature, if turned on, will limit the
sample rate to one option.

All in all, you have one exact format that works (and programs that go
with the defaults usually find it), and audio specific software usually
expects to be able to tinker with those settings.

So, I'd peg this as an ALSA bug. And I think it's been known for about 5
years or so.."

Is this true? Is it an ALSA bug?

Best Regards, Ailo
