Hi all, I'm new to this mailing list so HELLO EVERYBODY. I was asking questions on the IRC, but was advised to proceed in maillist. Now. I have many problems with sound on my computer, and I'm not sure which one is related to alsa. Also, I'm gonna ask different questions (even if they look related) in separate messages, to not lose reply to any of them :) My setup is: Acer Aspire 5930G laptop with Ubuntu 9.10 lspci: Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) Alsa: 1.0.22.1 Module: snd-hda-intel Link to alsa-info.sh output: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=9baec29aac190c0bcbcdc1884fb5bf641faa946c First problem - incorrect default behavior without forcing to acer-aspire-6530g model: 1) If I'm not forcing snd-hda-intel to use a specific model via option, then I get Internal Subwoofer not functioning (LFE channel). 2) After testing all possible models, I found that most reliable one is "model=acer-aspire-6530g". With it, Internal Subwoofer is working, along with other magical things like switching to external speakers when plugging them in :) (it was pain to get this simple thing working on earlier versions of alsa) I think snd-hda-intel is having a bug - I checked it has no code in source to handle 5930G in some special way. But as you see, default behavior is incorrect (no sound from int. subwoofer for example). Is this already fixed or reported? (or I'm the only person on Earth having Acer Aspire 5930G with linux? :-) Maybe I should post this in dev maillist? regards, Artiom ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Download Intel® Parallel Studio Eval Try the new software tools for yourself.
