winecfg audio broke in 11.2/gnome

Hello list,

Wincfg > Audio hangs in opensuse 11.2/gnome. Can I get some help to fix
this here?

I've tried to disable all the pulseaudio, but alsamixer still shows the
card and chip as PulseAudio.

This is a fresh, none updated opensuse11.2/gnome install on a dial-up
system. Kernel is 2.6.31.5-0.1-default. I think the gnome is 2.28, but
it is 2.2 something. Alsa is 1.0.20.

With the same DVD, I installed kde on one machine and gnome on the
other. Wine, winecfg, etc works fine on the kde.

The gnome box sound system is an old, simple emu10k1x and everything
works with it, but wine. Winecfg > audio works on kde, but hangs with gnome.

Wine <W98 app path> on gnome hangs at the point it would play a sound
effect. I think I have pulseaudio disabled everywhere I can.

Do I have to uninstall pulseaudio to get rid of it? Frank K
