Skype, no plughw and where to find documentation?

Hi,

My problem is that I can't Skype doesn't record sound properly.

the plughw interface doesn't appear and using hw:0,2 seems to be the
wrong bitrate for Skype.

Maybe one way to fix it for me is writing a custom .asoundrc?

Now it starts being funny:

There are two alsa wikis introducing to asoundrc:

http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/Asoundrc
http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/.asoundrc

The second url contains:

  == A brief example.  ==

  Put the following in a file in your home directory in a file named .asoundrc:

  pcm.card0 {
      type hw
      card 0
  }
  ctl.card0 {
      type hw
      card 0
  }

So what should happen now?
Opening alsamixer should there be new items called card0 ?

Do I need more than just restarting alsamixer ?

Or don't aliases appear on the alsamixer display?

Now this is fine. Using google or the links at the bottom of the wiki
page you can find

http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/alsa-lib/pcm_plugins.html

quite easily.

However it only contains a list of all options of pcm but not of ctl ?
Are the options the same?
