cs4235 Chip

Moi,

I have this chip and I'm trying to use the cs4236 module from Alsa. I have, I think, 1.0.22 of alsa-driver.

The parameters I'm supplying are:

port = 534 cport = 120 (only one reported via pnpdump for "CTRL")
fm_port = 388 sb_port = 220 dma1 = 1 dma2 = 0 isapnp = 0

The module fails to insert and the following messages appear in /var/log/messages:

Feb 8 16:19:04 AKU kernel: [75925.984021] ALSA wss_lib.c:221: in: auto calibration time out - reg = 0x18
Feb 8 16:19:04 AKU kernel: [75925.984021] ALSA wss_lib.c:204: out: auto calibration time out - reg = 0x18, value = 0x8f
Feb 8 16:19:05 AKU kernel: [75927.045598] cs423x-pnpbios 01:01.00: activated
Feb 8 16:19:05 AKU kernel: [75927.048258] cs423x-pnpbios 01:01.00: disabled
Feb 8 16:19:05 AKU kernel: [75927.048331] cs423x-pnpbios: probe of 01:01.00 failed with error -2

ALthough I used pnpdump to get values from the chip, I am not using "isapnp" script at boot time although the kernel does have isa pnp support.

At /sys/devices/pnp1/01:01 I have:

drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 0 2010-02-08 19:41 .
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 0 2010-02-08 19:40 ..
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 0 2010-02-08 19:42 01:01.00
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 0 2010-02-08 19:42 01:01.01
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 0 2010-02-08 19:42 01:01.02
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 4096 2010-02-08 19:42 card_id
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 4096 2010-02-08 19:42 name
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 2010-02-08 19:42 power
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4096 2010-02-08 19:42 uevent

"card_id" and "name" contain what you would expect. Namely "CSC5625" and "CS4235" respectively.

"uname -a": Linux AKU 2.6.31.8-0.1-default #1 SMP 2009-12-15 23:55:40
            +0100 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

I had previously contacted Jaroslav and he kindly replied but I now realise that I did not have the whole story at that time.

Anyways, I know these guys must be busy and now that I have found this list, I'm hoping for some clues. Does anybody know what is the cause of this problem and is there anything I can do about it?

Thanks in advance.
