Hello,

for explanation:

- my sb awe32 is not PnP (but other ISA cards I has try was - with same
problems)
- I have try to load it in /etc/rc.local or in /etc/modules, but my system
has mostly died just by GDM login (by playing "welcome" sound).

- I load it manually now with:

------
root@zly-hugo:/home/hugo# modprobe -v snd-sbawe isapnp=0
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.31-17-generic/kernel/sound/core/snd-hwdep.ko

insmod /lib/modules/2.6.31-17-generic/kernel/sound/isa/sb/snd-sb-common.ko

insmod /lib/modules/2.6.31-17-generic/kernel/sound/isa/sb/snd-sb16-csp.ko

insmod /lib/modules/2.6.31-17-generic/kernel/sound/isa/sb/snd-sb16-dsp.ko

insmod /lib/modules/2.6.31-17-generic/kernel/sound/drivers/opl3/snd-opl3-lib.ko

insmod /lib/modules/2.6.31-17-generic/kernel/sound/isa/sb/snd-sbawe.ko
isapnp=0
root@zly-hugo:/home/hugo#
-------

The card is configured to default - correct recognized (see below) values.

After that nothing is logged/dmesg-ed

----
root@zly-hugo:/home/hugo# cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [rev50 ]: VIA686A - VIA 82C686A/B rev50
VIA 82C686A/B rev50 with VIA1612A at 0xac00, irq 10
1 [S16 ]: SB AWE - Sound Blaster 16
Sound Blaster 16 at 0x220, irq 5, dma 1&5
----

!!! The system do not crash every time by first attempt to play sound.
Sometimes it work OK, but then a sound is playing, and in the middle
the system dies - also leds on my HD and DVD-RW are lighting ?! and
I have to reset.

In the system logs after reboot is nothing :(

Thank You for replay(s) and sorry please my English.
