I've been looking for a good quality USB audio interface that works with Linux. I had an M-Audio FastTrackPro, which works, but it's a little flimsy, and after two years and at least one fall, it's no longer usable. Also the company seems at best uninterested in Linux, in my experience. I recently came across two models that work with Linux, which I haven't seen mentioned on the Alsa soundcard page or on any other Linux-related sites I've found. I tried to add them to the Alsa Soundcard Matrix, following instructions on the wiki, but I keep being told "This page has been locked to prevent editing." Is there a way to do this? The two devices are Henry Engineering USB Matchbox II http://www.henryeng.com/USBmatII.html ART USB DualPre http://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp?type=86&cat=9&id=150 I haven't tried the Henry Engineering, but the web site says "MS-Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms are supported; no special driver or software is needed." Seems pricey to me, though if it has superior converters (as they claim), it might be worth it. The ART doesn't say it works with Linux. When I inquired, they expressed ignorance, but agreed to loan me a unit to test, which I did, and it worked fine with no hassle, usning snd-usb-audio. I applaud the company for their cooperation. This model has features similar to the FastTrackPro, but it seems more solidly built, and it's half the price. -- David Zelinsky ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Throughout its 18-year history, RSA Conference consistently attracts the world's best and brightest in the field, creating opportunities for Conference attendees to learn about information security's most important issues through interactions with peers, luminaries and emerging and established companies. http://p.sf.net/sfu/rsaconf-dev2dev _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list Alsa-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
