Problem with static over SPDIF

Hello,

I have an ASUS P5B-E motherboard running Fedora 11.  I have been using 
the analog outputs and it has worked well.

Recently, I tried to switch to using the digital output over SPDIF and 
am receiving a far amount of static or distortion.

 From google'ing, I saw similar issues in the past, but so far none of 
these fixes have helped.

I have also attached my alsa-info.txt.

I tried adding:
options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=6stack-digout

as suggested by one post, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

I also tried lowering the output levels in alsamixer to <50%, but that 
only made the static and everythign else quieter.


Any suggestions on the source of the static and how I might get rid of it?
