I'm using an Asus EeePC 701 as a glorified MP3 player for the dance classes I teach -- basically using Alsaplayer to drive the internal Intel HDA-style sound card. However, I have recently acquired an external XLR-to-USB adapter to connect a wireless microphone (so I no longer need to lug around the big mixer). The adapter works fine and I can record sound with it using a command like $ arecord -D hw:1,0 -t wav -c 1 -f S16_LE -r 44100 foo.wav But what I'd really like to do is mix the sound from the XLR-to-USB adapter together with the PCM output from Alsaplayer and route that to the EeePC's output (phone jack). I have studied the documentation (such as there is), web sites, and mailing list archives but haven't found a solution. The machine uses the factory software, namely Xandros Linux with a 2.6.21.4 kernel (no JACK, unfortunately), and for various reasons I'd like to stay with this if at all possible (i.e., »install current Ubuntu and then do ...« isn't really the answer I'm looking for). If anybody could clue me in as to what to stick into asoundrc to make this work I'll be happy.
