Hi, I have been getting distortion on my Asus M3N78-EM motherboard based PC using the on-board HDMI audio. I am running Mythdora 10.21 (latest patches), with the latest Alsa drivers (1.0.21a). The HDA Intel driver is used for HDMI. The behaviour is as follows: 1. On initial login, the first time audio is played (regardless of source), it plays well. This is regardless of length. When testing with the Sound Preferences panel with "Test" tones, there is a slight delay (about 1 second), and then the sound plays. 2. The second time I try to play with any source, it is usually distorted (about 95% of the time). Again, with the Sound Preferences panel, the sound plays 'instantly' but is distorted. It seems to be of a higher volume, so it could be overdriving. I am not certain of this. 3. If I log out and back in again, the sound is clean again. It almost seems as if ALSA is not 'halting' properly, and is retaining the previous stream (lack of 1 second delay on the second attempt to play a sound). Because the previous stream is not 'halted' the second playing is distorted? I have read a lot of forums, and tried many possible solutions (updating bios, changing modprobe options, etc.), but still no solution. I don't care about the 1 second delay, but the need to reboot is becoming irritating... I can post any configuration information if required. Thanks for any assistance. regards, Mykola ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us!
