Hey Alsa-Users list, I have been trying to get help via the distro forums for KnoppMyth(Now LinHES) but i'm not having much luck there. Forgive me for the forum copy & paste, but i'm really hoping there is something simple I can do like recompile the kernel to get this working. Copying the ubuntu kernel config is going to be my next attempt and comparing kernel version/patches but figured I would throw the problem here before I invest more time in this. Please point out any thing I might be missing. I have not spent any serious time with linux audio since the Sound blaster 16 was hot. I have a Asus Xonar DX sound card that was working perfectly in KnoppMyth/LinHES R5.5(Knoppix/debian based) after manually compiling alsa-driver 1.0.18b and 1.0.18 libs/utils/etc. After upgrading to KnoppMyth/LinHES R6(ArchLinux), the analog out plays audio perfectly through head phones or powered speakers, but the 3.5mm stereo-to-RCA cable going to RCA input on the TV doesn't produce any sound at all. I do realize that there are going to be significant differences between Linux distributions, but the guys driving the development of the distro have kept as much the same as possible without re-inventing the wheel Turning the TV volume up to 70+ doesn't make a difference, alsamixer settings are all set to 100. Muting the digital, aux, front-port, and mic-in channels have zero effect on the audio to the tv(no audio), or headphones(always work). I've tested with speaker-test, aplay, mplayer, and mythtv with and without VDPAU enabled binarys. Without changing any configuration or BIOS setting, booting ubuntu 9 i386 liveCD all audio tests work as expected on TV without any modifications. very strange! I mirrored the alsamixer settings from Ubuntu LiveCD exactly as well and it still doesn't work! I've tried compiling alsa 1.0.20(drivers,lib,utils,oss) per the alsa instructions here-> http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Module-oxygen and I get the same result. I have tried many alsamixer combination's with & with-out IEC958, Line-In, Front Panel muted/un-muted. nothing will get the audio to output to the TV, but ALWAYS will play to an external PC speaker( Altec Lansing SoundBar ) or my ipod headphones. Here is some (hopefully useful) command output that might allow someone to help me cause i'm at a loss right now. dmesg [root@SnowTV ~]# dmesg BIOS EBDA/lowmem at: 0009dc00/0009dc00 Linux version 2.6.28-LinHES (root@myhost) (gcc version 4.3.2 (GCC) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Feb 14 12:09:54 UTC 2009 KERNEL supported cpus: Intel GenuineIntel AMD AuthenticAMD NSC Geode by NSC Cyrix CyrixInstead Centaur CentaurHauls Transmeta GenuineTMx86 Transmeta TransmetaCPU UMC UMC UMC UMC BIOS-provided physical RAM map: BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009dc00 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000009dc00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000000e0000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 000000007ffa0000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000007ffa0000 - 000000007ffae000 (ACPI data) BIOS-e820: 000000007ffae000 - 000000007fff0000 (ACPI NVS) BIOS-e820: 000000007fff0000 - 0000000080000000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fee00000 - 00000000fee01000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000ffb00000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) DMI present.
