Separating left and right channel as own ALSA "device"

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello All,

I'd like to separate my left and right channel on hw:0,0 each as a separate device so that my Intel HDA single-channel card can actually play two (mono) streams simultaneously using mplayer and/or mpd.
This does work when using jackd (system:playback_1 and system:playback_2 play out on left and right channel, nicely separated) but I'd like to forgo on jackd as it makes a funny scratching noise every few seconds on these cheap soundcards (read: with my low knowledge on the probably superb jackd :).

Does anyone have an idea on how to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance,
 Christian.
