The mixer control you see does not necessarily prove there is the
corresponding HW control.

I had a similar situation with my MAudio Revolution 7.1. In the end
ALSA developers implemented SW (capture) volume - because the card doesn't
have HW gain control.

I also pointed them to the picture of Windows mixer in the manual.
