SPDIF and USB have the same issue regarding isolation from PC generated noise in that they connect the ground of the data converter and PC. Toslink is the only way to get true isolation.

The wavelength usb claims regarding jitter are simply not scientific. The jitter of concern is in the sample clock of the DAC. Basically, they provide pseudo-science.
