OK, nothing pops out to me at least. You say that .17 worked but .19 did not. Maybe you could try compiling the usb driver itself from 17 and install it OK, nothing pops out to me at least. into your .19 and see if that works (Not sure that it even should, but if it
does and the .19 does not, then you know the problem is with the .19 usb

any clues just after you do a modprobe on the usb driver. -- ie do a rmmod to
remove the usb driver and then do modprobe.

The chip is a C-media 6206 and inside the .ini of the win drivers it
says
CM106 as driver... so it should work but something is missing or need
to be

I've selected the sound card to play already, i'm a 4 years user of
gentoo so it's not a problem, right now using fedora 10 without

Hi,

I don't know if it is gentoo or alsa specific, and if it can be related to
your problem, but it was maybe 2 weeks ago, I experimented a strange
problem
after a kernel update and the in-kernel alsa driver. It was impossible to
get
sound from one of my sound card. All was working, the other cards was
working,
but it was just no sound at all with my audiofile (the second card in my
config).

The only cure I found was to stop the alsa daemon,
remove /var/lib/alsa/asound.state and restart alsa.
After that, the sound was working again with this card.

You tell us almost nothing. Including not telling us which usb audio
adapter
you have. What drivers are you loading.(post the contencts of
/etc/modprobe.conf and of the relevant sound files in /etc/modprobe.d)
Tell us exactly. Tell us what is in
/dev/snd
(ls -l /dev/snd)
HOw did you try to get sound out? Do you have pulseaudio running? (kill
it
for
now). Do you have more than one sound card? How did you try to choose
the
usb one rather thant he on-board one, etc. The more information you
give the
greater the chance of help.

the

Tried resampling but didn't worked.

Tried the optical out too but no sound too or analog.

Hello!

I've tried Opensuse 10.1, 10.2, and 11.0 and no sound... same as
others
distro,
it show as usb Audio, I get all channels (one Left ad Right and
another
with 6
channels LF) in mixers, but no sound at all. The only sound is a
"pop"
when the
module start first time...

Optical isn't supported even on supported C-Media USB, so it would be
quite optimistic to expect it to work here. So, anyway... I'm not sure
who is working on C-Media USB stuff, but I'm pretty sure that support
would already exists if it was so simple and specs were available.
