Which Linux distro are you using? If it is a distro that has pulseaudio installed, Ubuntu, Fedora, etc, when opening alsamixer on the command line, all you will see is/are the control/s for pulseaudio. Open alsamixer as below, and you should see all the controls for card0, and card1. alsamixer -D hw:0 The above should show sliders for your actual soundcard. alsamixer -D hw:1 The above should show any sliders for the webcam.
