Hello,

I have problems using my mic on the usb webcam.
I've tried two different webcams so I'm thinking it has something to do with alsa.

First, if I do arecord --list-devices, two devices show up. Thats correct. However when i do alsamixer -c 1 I get an error. Why is that?

Next, skype fails on me with a read error. Possible because something is not setup correctly in alsa?

Below i pastes some output of various commands:

---
marcel@marcel-desktop:~$ arecord --list-devices
**** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: ALC888 Analog [ALC888 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: CameraB404271 [USB Camera-B4.04.27.1], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

---
marcel@marcel-desktop:~$ alsamixer -c 1

alsamixer: function snd_mixer_load failed: Invalid argument

---
marcel@marcel-desktop:~$ asoundconf list
Names of available sound cards:
NVidia
CameraB404271

---
marcel@marcel-desktop:~$ skype

RtApiAlsa: callback thread error (RtApiAlsa: audio read error for device (USB Camera-B4.04.27.1 (hw:CameraB404271,0)): Input/output error.) ... closing stream.

---

Met vriendelijke groet,

Marcel Koopman
