Microphone Problem on HP 2133

Hello,

I have been trying to get my microphone working with no success. It
works, but the sound is very distorted depending on which volume
controls I have up or down.
I have done the whole alsa-info thing and its here:
http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=3d334183ccdcd30cad60ccb160995ca4020ff1ac

Why alsa-drivers is showing as 1.0.16rc1 I do not know, as everything
is the latest version from the SuSE 11 ALSA repositories.
I am just in the process of compliling manually with alsa-drivers
1.0.19, althought I'm not sure if this will make a difference. It did
start working as described above when I updated the last time.

I read on the wiki that it could be to do with analogue circuits, the
distortion seems significantly worse when the fan is on. So perhaps I
am stuck with it?

Would appreciate any help/suggestions.

thanks
