Hello, After updating alsa drivers and other packages from 1.0.17 to 1.0.19, I finally got the SPDIF output working. Unfortunatly, the SPDIF INPUT is not working. There is simply no sound at all (not even a little noise). Here is the output of arecord -L: default:CARD=Intel HDA Intel, ALC888 Analog Default Audio Device front:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, ALC888 Analog Front speakers surround40:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, ALC888 Analog 4.0 Surround output to Front and Rear speakers surround41:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, ALC888 Analog 4.1 Surround output to Front, Rear and Subwoofer speakers surround50:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, ALC888 Analog 5.0 Surround output to Front, Center and Rear speakers surround51:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, ALC888 Analog 5.1 Surround output to Front, Center, Rear and Subwoofer speakers surround71:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, ALC888 Analog 7.1 Surround output to Front, Center, Side, Rear and Woofer speakers iec958:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, ALC888 Digital IEC958 (S/PDIF) Digital Audio Output null Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture) Here is the arecord -l **** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices **** card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC888 Analog [ALC888 Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: ALC888 Digital [ALC888 Digital] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 2: ALC888 Analog [ALC888 Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Linux 2.6.27-7-server #1 SMP Tue Nov 4 20:16:57 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid 64bits (Server Edition) Motherboard: Giga-byte EG43 (G43 Chipset) Chipset: REALTEK ALC888 (shown as Intel brand?) apt-get install alsa-base, alsa-tools, alsa-utils ALSA has been upgraded to the latest version using a script at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1046137 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open Source Business Conference (OSBC), March 24-25, 2009, San Francisco, CA -OSBC tackles the biggest issue in open source: Open Sourcing the Enterprise -Strategies to boost innovation and cut costs with open source participation -Receive a $600 discount off the registration fee with the source code: SFAD http://p.sf.net/sfu/XcvMzF8H _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list Alsa-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
