Hello again list! I think my posts are getting to the list, but
apparently not attracting favorable attention. Who wants to discuss
modems on a alsa site?
Similarly openSuse thinks soft dialup modems are the thing of the
past!
What I could use from this list now is some alsa device information
in the way of a wiki link, other reference, or some first hand
suggestions.
My onboard Intel sound card uses the snd-intel0x8 driver module. It
works until I modprobe the snd-intel0x8m and run slmodemd on hw:0.
slmodemd completes successfully, but the system sound quits working.
The modem queries, thinks it's dialing, but never touches the phone
line.
I think slmodemd is talking to my sound card. There's nothing to be
heard from the modem activity, but the system sound is dead!
Killing slmodemd releases the system sound.

Only the hw:0 device gets slmodemd to respond correctly.

What I need is some information regarding how to load load snd-
intel0x8 and snd-intel0x8m and how to point slmodemd to the modem
card. The modem card is the only card in the system (PCI).

All the other PCI devices are on the mother board.
Sorry if this post offends! Frank K
