Hi, on my new Dell Precision M4400 (64bit dual core) with Ubuntu intrepid, hdsploader won't download the firmware to the Multiface. The pcmcia card is recognized on insertion and the snd-hdsp module loaded. I tried with two different Multifaces and two different PCMCIA Cards. The firmware loads fine with my other Laptops. I tried kernels 2.4.27-7-generic 2.4.24-21-rt (ubuntustudio) 2.4.24-19-rt (ubuntustudio) When issuing hdsploader, I get the infamous: ------------------ orm@varese:~$ hdsploader hdsploader - firmware loader for RME Hammerfall DSP cards Looking for HDSP + Multiface or Digiface cards : Card 0 : HDA Intel at 0xf6fdc000 irq 21 Card 1 : RME Hammerfall DSP at 0x124000000, irq 19 Upload firmware for card hw:1 Hwdep ioctl error on card hw:1 : Input/output error. orm@varese:~$ ----------------- I also tried to download the frimware to the Multiface and reattach the cable but the system still believes, the firmware hasn't yet been downloaded. Below are the outputs of lspci, my syslog and lsmod output. It seems, the system doesn't even recognize the Multiface. I doublechecked all cables and powered the Multifaces with higher voltages just to make sure that isn't the problem. The firmware sits in /usr/share/alsa/firmware/hdsploader and a copy in /usr/local/share/alsa/firmware/hdsploader Since the syslogs don't complain about not finding the firmware the error seems to be earlier anyway. I also tried with a fresh build of alsa (1.0.17/18), downloaded today from alsa-project.org but it didn't change anything. Are there any options for the modules I could try or is there anything I could do to nail down the problem? IRQ of the card is 19. Please help, I really need the laptop for concerts and didn't expect anything like that as the RMEs have worked reliably in many different configurations in all kinds of hardware without any problems in the last years. -- Orm -------------------------------- lspci shows: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Memory Controller Hub (rev 07) Subsystem: Dell Device 0250 Flags:
